Now that you have found your dream gown, it\u2019s time to make it fit you like a glove. Your wedding dress might need hemming, a bustle added, or it might need completely resized. Not sure what to bring to your bridal alterations appointment with your seamstress? Below are my tips on what wedding dress undergarments to bring for alterations, plus wedding dress etiquette you should know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shoes <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Shoes for any alterations appointment is a must. You must bring the shoes you intend to wear with your wedding gown to your fitting. This is required so the seamstress can hem the gown to the desired length with the shoes you are wearing. If you do not know the exact shoes you are wearing, bring shoes that are similar to what you want. If not, your shoes will change the hem length drastically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wedding Dress Undergarments <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Bring any undergarments like a bra or shapewear that you plan on wearing with your wedding gown. Your fittings will reflect what the gown will look like on your big day. You want to be wearing the undergarments that you will be wearing on your wedding day. Look to see if your wedding dress already has built-in bra cups. If not, you can ask your seamstress to add in bra cups built to you size and preference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Add-ons <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Looking to incorporate a part of a family member\u2019s wedding dress or memory of them? I have worked with several brides wanting to incorporate memories into their gown. They wanted a piece of lace from their mother or grandmother\u2019s wedding gown sewn into their gown. If this is something that you want, bring it with you. Tell your seamstress how you would like to put it in your gown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is recommended that you bring any accessories like a cape, shawl, or anything detached<\/a> from your wedding dress. You and your seamstress can see how those look with the altered wedding gown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Veil <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you decide to wear a veil on your wedding day, bring it with you to the alterations appointment. It is important that your seamstress gets an idea of the length of the veil. You will try it on with your dress to see the overall look. If you want any customizations, the veil must be brought with the gown at the first appointment.
