As a part of the sales process, failure is natural. It’s how we take failure is what will make us successful. Being able to separate the emotional and intellectual side of failure is pivotal to the learning experience. Professional failure cannot diminish you as a person, and being able to find that differentiation will let you become effective. Investing emotionally in business will only set you up for disappointment. For example, when starting a passion project there are bound to be emotional connections. With these connections, there are expectations with certain results and when they don’t meet the designated end goals there will be failure. This failure will bring emotional distress all because there was the initial personal attachment.

  1. I like how you emphasized setting apart the intellectual and emotion ties with failure and making them distinct things. Failure isn’t just one thing. Learning to cope with it takes lots of different emotional and mental maturities to deal with it and overcome it

  2. Failure is the key to making us better at what we do. I like how you connected failure with the emotional connection to something. Great post!

  3. Failure is where the best salespeople thrive. They have to have a growth mindset and say how can I use this failure, so I can be more successful next time. Good to recognize how important it is to lean into failure and not be discouraged by it.
