When people think of salespeople, words are thrown around like pushy, stubborn, greedy, obnoxious, slick, sly, and sneaky. Nobody really relates very nice words to people who are trying to sell something, and in the past, there really has not been a reason for nice words to be used.

I think it is time for nice words to start being thrown around when looking at salespeople. We are now in an age where selling tactics have changed and the words described above can no longer be used to describe the art of selling. Kim Garrett is a perfect example of how selling does not have to be portrayed in a negative way.

Kim was a graduate of Grove City College in 2011 and is now the founder of a growing company called Rooted Beauty. When looking at Kim, the last things you see are someone who is sneaky, pushy, or obnoxious. Instead, you see someone who truly cares about what her product can provide to her customers, and you can tell that she has a genuine personality.

If a salesperson from the 70’s witnessed Kim’s selling tactics, he/she would be shocked that Kim is able to sell her product. That is ultimately the beauty of selling in today’s era. If you’re genuine and believe in what you are selling, you can be a successful salesperson.

Kim has grown her company based on her genuine personality because people can see that she wants what is best for her customers. People can relate to a person who is kind and sincere, not to a person who is rude and inconsiderate. Rooted Beauty will continue to grow because of Kim’s willingness to care more about her customers’ needs than her own.
