The majority of businesses deal with specific types of buyers in the industry.  Some can be interchangeable and not one person is exactly alike, but these types have been defined as general buyers.  To sellers, understanding the different types of buyers and people overall help to generate the right buyer-seller relationship and sell something genuinely.

1.       Drivers

These are the type of people who ask, “what do you want” and do not want to sit around and chit-chat.  Time is not on their side and they just want to get the deal done.  As a seller, one can focus on doing everything they can to help the customer get what they want quickly and efficiently.

 2.       Harmonizer

These people are very relational with sellers and strive to help them understand what they are looking for in terms of the right product or service.  Although, being helpful and relational does mean working slower.  Building a relationship with a seller, just like the seller is with the customer, is not always easy and takes more time to close a potential sale.

 3.       Social Influencer

These types of buyers love meeting new people and have an open, outgoing personality.  They want to introduce you to everyone, including potential buyers for the product or service.  Even if the buyer is not interested in the sale, they will do their best to point you to the right person for the purchase.  They are efficient and quick in a helpful way.

 4.       Analytical

Analytical buyers are extremely price dependent and conscious of their spending on a purchase.  As a seller, one can help sell a product or service’s worth, to assist the buyer understand the specific price.  There needs to be a line drawn between helpful and giving away too much of the business by lowering prices unnecessarily.  Some buyers just cannot justify a certain price, and it is okay to walk away.

  1. This is interesting, I think I have personally seen all these types in sales. I think it is important to be cognizant of the kind of seller you tend to be so that you can act appropriately. The thing is that i don’t believe there is one that trumps all the others, but i do think being able to flow into all of these types of sellers at the appropriate time is a important skill to learn.
