Clark’s donuts. Last semester for my marketing class we had to pick a business big or small and market it however we would like. My group chose Clark’s donuts. Clarks is a donut shop downtown, and they also have another location. They sell to resalers such as county market or even our college. Evan Martin a young Dad recently bought Clarks just a few years ago and is determined to make a difference. He is going to stop selling to resalers and just sell in his own stores to make more money. This was one of my favorite projects, I learned a lot about marketing and sales and how they are so intertwined. My group had made a catchy jingle for the business that went “At Clark’s donuts we’ve got the treat, handmade donuts, so fresh and so sweet.” Sung by none other but Andrew Blank. We came up with small flyers in a donut shape. We had suggestions on a new logo to make things look more appealing with  different colors and a different font that could catch our audience. We went into the store and took videos and pictures and created a whole advertising campaign. We pitched our idea to Evan Martin and unfortunately for us he never got back about it after our project was officially over. We hope that he uses some of our ideas and that we could help in better his sales in the future. It was a very fun project to work on and I learned a lot. I learned about different selling techniques from Martin and what sells versus what doesn’t. He gave us helpful tips throughout the project and even helpful life tips. In the future I could see myself marketing and communicating with the sales team because it goes hand in hand.

  1. I did not even know that this store existed so close to campus before I heard about it from a friend who had purchased donuts there. I recently went there for the first time and realized how amazing their products are. They could be very successful if their company were more well know and their marketing increased!

  2. Thank you for not only giving some sales tips, but also sharing a great donut shop close to campus. I am going to have to give this place a try. I also loved how you took what you learned and actually went out into the field to figure this out!

  3. I’ve never heard of Clark’s Donuts, but I should certainly check it out, especially if it’s close to our campus. Thanks for sharing your experience in this class. What kind of marketing class was this? It sounds worth looking into!

  4. I love Clark’s! I think that they sometimes have Clark’s donuts in the dining hall which I think is a great strategy to get the word out about their business.

Was this assignment for Dr. Powell’s class?

  5. Jingle should be played in class for sure, would boost class morale imo. Firsthand experience is a great way to get real advice and insight into sales. Learning about their process and tactics must’ve been cool and beneficial to the project.
