A few months ago I was wanting a cowboy hat and was looking online and in stores for one but never bought one. Online was tricky because I couldn’t see how it actually looked on me. I couldn’t feel the quality of the cowboy hat and compare the price assigned to it. I was in Nashville Tennessee visiting a friend over fall break and I thought it was possible to find a cowboy hat there because when you think of Country music you think of Nashville. There were many places I looked to buy a cowboy hat but they were either way too expensive for not good enough quality or just poor quality with lower prices that were still expensive. Months later I was on a vacation with my family in Mexico and there was this man running a stand with cowboy hats. They looked better than all of the other hats I saw previously. The price was unfortunately pretty high but at least quality seemed great. I had no intentions of buying a hat from the salesman and he just began to talk to me striking a conversation. He encouraged me to try on the hat I was looking at and then asked if i wanted to know how it was made. The way he described the process of it being made (by hand with genuine leather) made me understand the quality of it and how the price makes sense for the amount of work and care that was put into making the cowboy hat. The salesman validated his claim that it was genuine leather by putting a flame to it with a lighter. It showed no damage and they won’t get damaged by fire, which I thought was cool. He then showed me his cowboy hat, it didn’t look new like the ones on display but it was in excellent condition and he told me he’s had the hat for many years and this is the quality you can expect from it. I bought the hat and he moved me to do that. Compared to the other places I went to find a hat, nobody even attempted to move me to buy, but he did and showed skill as a salesman.
