Over 50 percent of American youth play sports, and many college students still play, whether intramural, club, or varsity. Many working adults still play in rec leagues or coach at some level. One thing in common for all levels of sports is they need equipment to play with. There are multiple ways to get sports equipment, including online stores, sports dealers, second-hand stores, and other larger retail stores selling some sports equipment. Each of these places selling equipment has its benefits. However, as I talked to several of my friends, they have said that their favorite place to buy is in-person sports dealers, specifically Dicks Sporting Goods. Dicks is also one of my favorite places to buy my baseball equipment. Since talking to people, I have thought about and done some research on why Dicks is so popular. Not only is it popular in my circles, but it is the largest sports retailer in the United States. One factor I have thought about is the large supply they have at each store. Many other stores that sell in person are relatively small and don’t always have what I need. It also has the value of being a physical store and not an online platform. Customers can try on different pieces of clothing or sports equipment. Amazon has all of the same things Dicks has but does not have the value of being a physical store. Even if it may be cheaper, people can get a better sense of what they want at Dicks. Another one of the top factors that I have experienced is customer service. When shopping at Dicks, employees are usually ready to help services. When approached, they usually take me to what I am looking for or stay with me until my question is answered. There is a mix of things that go into Dick’s sales strategy but it’s model is very successful.

These are both good reasons as to why Dick’s Sporting Goods is such a popular sports equipment store. I often go when I need softball equipment, and I’ll find myself looking at WAY more than just that because of their large selection.
this is very interesting, especially in acknowledging the fact that the company as a producer has many options they provide for customers, and it shows due to the fact that they are still in business compared to sports authority and even models.
