In this clip Don Draper is selling an ad campaign to Conrad Hilton. I think it highlights a crucial part of sales that Don completely missed. Don was hired to create an ad campaign for Hilton’s business, but instead of finding out what his client wanted and creating a product around their desires, expectations and needs he formulated something he thought was best, which caused his perspective to be “very disappointing.” Whether Hilton was being reasonable or not, sales is all about the client, and here is a perfect illustration.
