Despite unprecedented growth throughout the past five years, there are many that still view Instagram as a white girl digital platform to share pictures of sunsets and food. However, as some businesses have discovered, there is much untapped selling potential within the app.

If your product in any way skews towards a younger or primarily female demographic Instagram could be an incredibly useful tool in your sales arsenal. The best example of this would be the way that clothing brands have showcased products, sales and special offers using Instagram. I know at least personally I’ve utilized said information as a customer.

Another unique oppotunity lies in the fact that 70% of the 300 million monthly Instagram users are internationally based, which leads to an entirely new potential customer base.

In short, Instagram is definitely a sales platform that is on the rise and should be given due attention.
