In a big family sometimes it is crucial to “sell,” such as selling ideas to your parents. Sales can come in at simple times such as “What do you guys want to eat” In a family of seven you have to know your way around this and ask questions to make them think they are hungry for what you are hungry for “Don’t you think a chicken, bacon, ranch pizza sounds good”. This especially works well on my younger twin sisters. There are a bunch of other examples such as when I was younger my sisters and I would try to convince our parents to get a puppy, but asking them flat out never really worked instead we had to ask them questions such as “Why would we not get a puppy” and they would answer “Because we are going to need to clean up after it” and then simply we figured the solution to their problem out we would clean up after the puppy. Eventually, somehow this worked and we did get the puppy, I would not say we did the best holding up our end of the deal. Last night I had a conversation with a girl from a youth group who had to sell an idea to her parents. A boy wanted to date her, but she’s not allowed to date. So she came up with different ideas and questions to ask her parents, questions that hopefully opened her parent’s minds to new solutions. She planned on asking questions such as “Why do you say that?” and so on this is just one of the many ways we can sell at home. Hopefully their sit-down “sales conversation” will end up working well and they can end up on a mutual agreement with neither side hurt too bad.

Good post! It is interesting to see how these sales techniques can be applied in many of ways throughout our lives like just our daily conversations with our family members.
