No is not a word we always like to hear but it is an important one that can hold a lot of power in a conversation especially one that has to do with sales.  However, the word does not always have to be a bad thing. Sometimes you can actually use the word to your advantage.

When talking to someone you are trying to sell to you might not want to hear it but they might say no to you and not want whatever you are selling and that is okay! Sometimes you can actually use it and spin it into a positive thing. if they say no to a particular thing, feature or service you might be able to offer them something else or show them something thy might not have considered before.

Another time when the word might come into play when you are having a conversation with a customer is when you tell them that you do not have what they want or need. By you telling them that you do not have it or that they can get it somewhere else or that no you do not recommend this product for that it allows you to build trust with them. They would much rather hear you say no then to sell them something they do not need or want.

As you can see saying no does not always have to be a bad thing, sometimes it can even be a good thing and it is something you should not be afraid to use when selling to people. Always remember it is better to be honest then to just get the buyer to buy something.

  1. It is always disappointing to hear no in a conversation, but you’re right, it is not always a bad thing, plus it can help you grow as a salesperson and figure out what went wrong in the conversation.
