Today the class attempted to sell Ducky Derby tickets to students on campus, and it was kinda hard. Here’s what I found.

~most people responded with “sorry not today” or “sorry I can’t right now”,  this is an expected answer from people who simply are not interested

~ another big group was those who said “I don’t have cash on me now”.  which is also not surprising, as College students are generally pretty broke.

~one of the other big problems we encountered was that we had many people say they had already been asked by another group. SAC and Hicks were immediately targeted by the first groups out the door.

~there didn’t seem to be any pattern for who was a successful sale or not, we tended to use the same pitch each time.

  1. We had ran into those same answers/excuses when we were selling too. Rejection is inevitable in the world of sales. My group approached people a little differently, it took a little longer for us to sell but I think that the intentionality went a long way. Looking back, we had met a lot of strangers and were able to sell to them when we explained what we were doing and what they were buying.
