As dumb as it might sound, I actually have grown and benefitted a lot from taking this sales class in many facets of my life. The biggest impact by far has been learning to stop and think, and find the real pain, not just in interacting on teams or with my friends but also with myself whenever I feel anxious or have a lot to do and need to find a starting point. I have immensely enjoyed everything I have had to learn in this class and by far the lessons that have impacted me the most have been learning to be ok with failure and answering questions with questions. I’m the social chair in my fraternity and often that results in interactions with both people in my group as well as people outside of my group for planning events and such. Planning with people from other groups has never been an issue, but planning with people in my fraternity can be… especially challenging since we tend to lose focus or fail to see the real issues or needs when we approach a problem as a unit. At least that’s how I have felt when trying to coordinate for certain things such as Spicy Soup Night, but that’s more of a failure on my part to learn how to connect with the people I’m working with to get stuff done. Sales has significantly assisted with this kind of work in the weirdest way possible. I am habitually answering questions with questions, asking more relevant questions to find solutions, and listening more so that I can understand exactly what it is that I am working with. As a result I have had a smoother time working with my close friends when normally we would struggle to interact since we feel like we can be casual since we’re all friends. It’s a huge blessing to have learned so much from this class and I don’t plan on forgetting these lessons, my goal being to take them into the professional world so that when I’m on teams for projects in a business setting that I can continue to listen and find the real pain so that we can work more effectively as a team.

  1. I also enjoyed this class a lot. I feel like it has been benefitted my friendships and make me truly consider the way I respond to people and care about them. It has also caused me to consider how I can incorporate my faith into whatever I pursue out of college. I think everyone should take this class!!!

  2. I also feel the same way and will really benefit from the content we learned. I am already starting to think about the sales strategies for my future internship.

  3. It’s really cool to hear about how this class impacted your life in areas outside of specific selling situations. I have never really thought about applying this to myself, but that is so smart to do a self needs and pains analysis in order to help find a solution for yourself. I also agree that it has taught me to be intentional in how I can love others well and learn more about them when having conversations with them.
