Student Employment Overview:

Grove City College offers a wide variety of Student job opportunities on campus! as a employed student you are permitted to work 20 hours per week (10 hours maximum for freshmen) and are paid monthly.  

Employment Explanation and Requirements:

In order to be employed on campus you must maintain more than a 2.0 GPA.  

Application Process:

Applications for on-campus student employment may be submitted by logging in to myGCC, selecting the Campus Services tab, and then selecting "Student Job Application" in the Student Employment section. Many positions also have their own individual applications, so ask around to find one that works for you.  

Some Job Opportunities:

1. Student Ambassador in Career Services

Pay: $9/hr. 

Requirements: 

  • Technical aptitude and experience (Microsoft Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, social media apps) 
  • Ability to work 4-5 hours a week 

Description: 

  • Assist staff members with a variety of programs, services, and tasks 
  • Help plan events by connecting with host organizations and promoting to students 
  • Create marketing materials (posters, flyers, social media posts) 
  • Assist with a variety of different projects 
  • Approve/decline job opportunities 
  • Create content for Handshake 

2. Teachers Assistant

Pay: $9/hr. 

Requirements and Description: 

  • Be able to grade or help answer student questions
  • Also, help the professor with what they require of you academically for the class you are grading for
  • Have time management skills, and independent work skills
  • Be proficient in the class you are a TA for meaning either having taken the class already or knowing the topics they will be covering 

Lab Specific:

  • You may also be a TA for lab science courses
  • You may help grade lab reports
  • Help students during the lab with any questions they may have
  • Also, help the professor with restocking ingredients or getting out the equipment the other students would not have access to  

3. Resident Assistant

Pay:

  • 60% of housing covered
  • Free Parking

Requirements: 

  • Minimal other commitments 
  • Cannot be a freshman 
  • Ability to lead and confront residents in stressful situations
  • Be able to end conflicts and try and provide solutions to any roommate conflict

Description: 

  • Ensure smooth functioning of the building 
  • Aid with check-in and check-out procedures 
  • Enforce college policy 
  • Plan co-curricular programs and activities to facilitate community for residents 
  • Invest in the spiritual and emotional well-being of residents 
  • Report to Resident Director 
  • Work closely with a team of 5-12 other RAs 

4. Urban Trail Co.

Pay: $10.50/hour 

Requirements: N/A 

Description:

  • Located in Henry Buhl Library, Urban Trail is a coffee shop available to all students and locals
  • Open 7 days a week, from 8-5! You can work anywhere from 5 to 20 hours a week

5. Student Ambassador Receptionist

Pay: $9/hour 

  • Admissions Office Summer hours: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm 
  • Admissions Office School year hours: 8 am – 5 pm 
  • Students can customize their working hours to fit their schedules  

Requirements:

  • Able to work alone and in teams to complete tasks throughout the day
  • Report to superiors and faculty members

Description:

  • Work inside Crawford Hall in the Admissions office, completing administrative tasks, big picture tasks, cleaning and restocking items in the office

6. Student Ambassador Tour Guide

Pay: $9/hour 

Requirements:

  • Have 2 hours of available time to give tours to prospective students and parents
  • Know the college, be able to retain information, and create a relationship with parents and students  

Description:

  • Be able to show the college off in a way appealing to prospective students, while adding personality, charm, and individuality to the tour but also keeping in the theme of the Grove City College message

7. Mail Room

Pay: $9/hr 

Requirements: N/A 

Description:

  • Located in Breen Student Union, you have the responsibility to sort through all the mail that is delivered whether packages or paper
  • You hand packages to students who scan in and occasionally give students their paper mail as well
  • You cannot work for more than 20 hours a week 

8. Desk Shift

Pay: $9/hr 

Requirements: N/A 

Description:

  • Depending on where you are located for your desk shift (HAL, aerobics room, IM rooms, MAP/Ketler) you are there to help anyone who may have questions
  • You cannot work for more than 20 hours a week

9. IM Sports Assistant

Pay: $9/hr 

Requirements: N/A 

Description:

  • You help IM’s of all kinds in their games throughout the year
  • You keep track of scheduling and scores
  • You must work a minimum of 2 hours per week
  • Customizable schedule
  • You cannot work for more than 20 hours per week

10. Parkhurst student worker

Pay: Different depending on where you work. 

Requirements:  N/A 

Description:

  • Students can help cart dishes around, replace dishes that are out, and work at CFA which has a whole subset of jobs to do, at the Garage you will work the cash register and as a barista, if someone orders coffee, but there's also making pizzas, cooking, serving, and serving ice cream when it's ordered
