The bustle is a major part of the alterations process. Most brides do not even think about the bustle until their seamstress mentions it in their appointments. It is important to inform yourself of your options before your alterations appointment. As a customer, go in prepared to ask for the best bridal alterations possible. Think about the look you want for your gown. What you would be comfortable wearing all day and night at your ceremony and reception?

Quality

As a seamstress, I work on and take apart other seamstresses work. I can see the poor quality and lack of experience in fixing customers items. They should have been done correctly the first time. The best bridal alterations occurs when the seamstress can alter the gown with no hesitation. She has confidence in her ability and with your gown. Always tell your customers if there is a risk when altering part of the gown, no matter what. Honesty is the best policy. Communication on both parts is key. Never use any type of ink on the bustle or on any outside fabrics for people to see. This could bleed all over the dress if the bride decides to get the gown professionally cleaned after the wedding.
