This week we discussed the concept of Black Hat SEO and White Hat SEO! As someone new to SEO, this was a concept I had not heard of. The images of the two different hats help to keep the methods separated since you should follow the white hat SEO practices and stay away from the black hat SEO practices. Now, what is the difference between Black Hat and White Hat SEO? Let’s dig into that!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Black Hat SEO is based on practices and methods that are used to increase a particular page’s rank in the search engine through methods that break the search engine’s terms of service. Do you know why the term “black hat” is used? Well, in western movies, the “bad guys” were always distinguished from the “good guys” by wearing black hats. The “good guys” would always wear white hats, leading to White Hat SEO. White Hat SEO is whenever the methods used are within the search engine’s terms of service. These methods work to improve the search engine results page of a site while following those terms of service. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
