I curiously wondered if there was a book on SEO for dummies, to my shock, there is. While looking over the book, \u201cSEO for Dummies\u201d I found a section about SEO keywords that particularly interested me. This section discussed what to take into consideration when making keyword lists.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Identifying Obvious Keywords<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    <\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Start with a simple list of words that come to your mind related to your website topic or content. Think about what people searching for content related to yours will be looking up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Brainstorm with Others<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      <\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      After making your first draft, it can be helpful to discuss with colleagues or friends to help you come up with other keywords.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Things to Consider<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Spelling mistakes<\/u><\/em> – In your keyword list, consider spelling mistakes. People often spell things wrong, especially when the are just doing a quick search.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Synonyms<\/u><\/em> – Think about all of the similar words that can relate to your topics as different searchers can use different words but be searching for the same answer. Examples of these could be house, home, or residence; or clean, declutter, and organize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Split or Merged Words<\/u><\/em> – Sometimes people split words or put them together, think about all the ways someone could say the word. Such as: any more or anymore, a lot vs alot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Singulars and Plurals<\/u><\/em> – Now, go through your list and add singulars or plurals, such as drink and drinks, mouse and mice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Hyphenated Words<\/u><\/em> – Beware of hyphenated words, such as e-mail, or email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Geo-specific Terms<\/u><\/em> – If geography is important to your business, be sure to include your key target locations in your list of keywords.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Company Name<\/u><\/em> – Using your company name as a keyword should seem obvious. It should be utilized as a keyword, especially if it is a well\/known company, also be sure to add any variations someone might use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Other Company\u2019s Names or Product Name<\/u><\/em> – Finally, you will want to utilize your competitions company name or any product names that are similar to yours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
