For this post I read an article on the Semrush website entitled \u201cLink Building For Seo a Guide to the Basics\u201d By Rachel Handley. https:\/\/www.semrush.com\/blog\/link-building\/ I thought this article would be relevant because it covers similar material to what we’ve been talking about in class recently. As we learned in class link building or baiting is the strategy of acquiring links from other reputable websites to your own. Google views sites with more authoritative links as more valuable and more likely to have quality content. The more closely related a topic is on the backlinking site and the more relevant and high quality the linking site is the higher the authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another aspect the article touched on was link placement this is something we had not gotten to in class or may not discuss but I thought it was interesting links in sidebars and footers have less value than links in the main page body. Descriptive anchor text which we have discussed also plays a key role in the value of the links.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If a site has a no follow attribute on its link to a site that indicates a person does not want to endorse the site but simply provide it. This is great for linking to websites in our projects but not so much when receiving links from people. Another attribute is sponsored for affiliate links or paid ads. When people link to our sites we want them to use follow or do follow links. The article then goes into link earning which we have already discussed in some depth though it is always good to be reminded about the key principles of building high quality link worthy content that people want to link to. Another strategy is of course to seek out relevant partner domains with high quality content to ask for links. Though one should be careful to avoid doing this excessively. I thought this article was very helpful and opened my eyes to some things I had not considered.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
