Recently, I took the SEO and Social Media writing classes at GCC. When I signed up, I did not realize just how much they would overlap. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In SEO, I studied finding keywords, site audits, finding your target audience, and more. I also got multiple certifications in the SEMrush platform. In Social Media Writing, I wrote blogs, studied different types of social media posts, learned about social media audits, and got multiple certifications in Hootsuite. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Social Media Writing, I was assigned to write blogs for the The Center for E+I at GCC. In these blogs, I was asked to use links with quality anchor text, which I was able to use my SEO knowledge for. I was also able to apply my knowledge from SEO about keywords and target audience. Additionally, headings and imagery was used in my Social Media Writing blogs, which I also learned about in SEO. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I was also able to see the similarities of a site audit and social media audit in both classes. I now understand how useful of a tool that audits can be. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the SEMrush and Hootsuite certifications, I found that the topics I was learning about in one directly affected the other. In the certification exams, sometimes I would be able to answer a question in Hootsuite that I remembered from SEMrush. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On a level of application outside the classroom, I was able to see how I can use tactics from SEO to aid in any social media, blog, or website project I may have someday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Although I didn\u2019t know about the overlap at the time of registering, I am happy that I was able to take both courses at once since the topics were so heavily intertwined.
