I found an article on the difference sales and marketing, because I am a marketing major and have a much more experience and knowledge in marketing and the different forms it can come in. When I started looking for jobs for the upcoming fall, many sales jobs come up in the mix of marketing jobs, which made me wonder what really is the difference between the two?<\/p>\n
The article starts off by defining both sales and marketing. Marketing is more of an umbrella term that focuses on getting consumers what they need, while focusing on their wants and retaining customers. Whereas sales focuses more on the transaction part of buying and selling, and maintaining the goals of the company itself and meeting quotas.<\/p>\n
The main focuses of the article is to say that sales can be seen in many different forms, and marketing can be involved in many different facets in a similar way. “Marketing is about what you convey about your offering, how you communicate the value of your offering to the target audience and why customers should pick it out of all the available options in the market. It is a promotion of the offering through ads using various platforms, such as newspaper, televisions, pamphlets, social media, such as Facebook page, Instagram account, Twitter account, etc.”<\/p>\n
