An excellent example of sales is seen in Matthew 28 when Jesus gave the great commission, admonishing the disciples to go out and spread the good news of the gospel to all people.<\/p>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span id=\"en-NIV-24212\" class=\"text Matt-28-16\">The Great Commission<\/span><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"text Matt-28-16\"><sup class=\"versenum\">16\u00a0<\/sup>Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-24213\" class=\"text Matt-28-17\"><sup class=\"versenum\">17\u00a0<\/sup>When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-24214\" class=\"text Matt-28-18\"><sup class=\"versenum\">18\u00a0<\/sup>Then Jesus came to them and said,\u00a0<span class=\"woj\">\u201cAll authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-24215\" class=\"text Matt-28-19\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">19\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,\u00a0baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-24216\" class=\"text Matt-28-20\"><span class=\"woj\"><sup class=\"versenum\">20\u00a0<\/sup>and teaching\u00a0them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you\u00a0always, to the very end of the age.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/h6>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>While this is a good example of Jesus commanding the disciples to go out and sell, the instance of sales in the Bible that I would like to focus on comes from Leviticus 25. The context of the passage is talking about the year of Jubilee and how people are to behave when selling land to one another. Verse 17 says, &#8220;Do not take advantage of each other,\u00a0but fear your God.\u00a0I am the\u00a0<span class=\"small-caps\">Lord<\/span> your God.&#8221; This is a very important concept in sales. One of the definitions we used for sales in class was, &#8220;Selling is the art of helping a prospect get what they need, and facilitating mutual benefit in the transaction.&#8221; As a salesperson, we should not be focused on what we can gain from the transaction but instead focus on finding mutual benefit. The whole point of sales is finding someone&#8217;s pain and connecting them with something that eases said pain. If we view potential customers solely for the money they have and do not care about them or the problems they are having, then we have missed the mark entirely.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sales is a huge part of everything we do, so there should be no surprise that there are examples of selling in the Bible.
