When I was younger my best friend<\/span> Sophia,<\/span> and her sister<\/span> Lily<\/span>,<\/span> owned a Chicken business. Thier compan<\/span>y\u2019s<\/span> name was <\/span>Lehman’s<\/span> Chicks Catering. <\/span>They had their own website up online and they <\/span>did events such as our school auction and sold chicken <\/span>in the town square. One summer specifically she made over a thousand dollars with the chicken business. Every spring <\/span>the Lehman family would get a hundred little chicks and raise them to eventually sell them as their chicken. This was a brutal process, <\/span>especially when I had to go over for butchering day. Butchering day was one day every summer where her family killed all the chickens.<\/span> This was a family event. <\/span>She had 27 first cousins and they all would show up to help out.<\/span> If you were like me and<\/span>\u00a0invited to butchering day you <\/span>most likely did<\/span> not know it was butchering day.<\/span> Her family had custom machines that help mass murder the chickens.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>They used to hang the chickens in Lilys basketball <\/span>net,<\/span> so the blood drained out. <\/span>Her father Doug when he was a teenager would sell chicken outside of my great uncle’s store, Musser’s market.<\/span> He did this for years day after day to <\/span>provide<\/span> for his family.<\/span> From doing this he was able to get all n<\/span>ine of his siblings through college and <\/span>grad<\/span> school, now <\/span>every one<\/span> of his siblings including Doug himself <\/span>is<\/span> either<\/span> a<\/span> lawyer or doctor with all their school <\/span>paid<\/span> for by Doug.<\/span> This small family business has <\/span>impacted<\/span> so many lives throughout the years. <\/span>The chicken was always good and cooked to perfection after years of getting the right <\/span>recipe<\/span> down. <\/span>This played a huge role in <\/span>Doug’s<\/span> life along with his kids, he was happy to pass down what made <\/span>him<\/span> and his siblings get <\/span>through<\/span>. Sophia and<\/span> L<\/span>ily<\/span> as odd as it <\/span>seems,<\/span> have always been <\/span>grateful<\/span> for <\/span>their Chicken experiences. <\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
