This past weekend I stopped by my old high school because they were performing a musical, Newsies.\u00a0 I had no clue what the plot line was about until I got there.\u00a0 It is about boys that would have to deliver newspapers to make a living.\u00a0 They would buy a stack of papers from newspaper company, and then sell them on the streets.\u00a0 However, the newspaper companies decided to raise their prices of the cost of buying newspapers for the boys (Newsies) to sell.\u00a0 The Newsies were not happy with this at all, so they decided to protest.\u00a0 The Manhattan Newsies rallied Newsies from all over New York City to boycott selling newspapers, but that is not all.\u00a0 They also got child laborers to boycott work until they received fair living wages.<\/p>\n
The Newsies found pain.\u00a0 They found pain with the child workers and with the companies that employed the child laborers.\u00a0 For the children, the Newsies found that pain stemmed from them having unsafe working conditions and getting little pay.\u00a0 They used that to come alongside their target audience and to work with them to find a better solution.\u00a0 For the companies, they found that the companies valued the work they were getting from the children more than other expenses, as those companies were shut down during the strike.\u00a0 In the end, the Newsies were able to use the pain from both the children and the companies to come to a resolution that all the parties involved were satisfied with.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
