As a treat.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Haha, kidding. No suggesting. The point of the metaphor is to let your prospect paint their own picture\u2014seagulls or no. If you can find a roundabout way of suggesting something that makes it seem like the prospect\u2019s idea, go for it. Usually you can do that with questions.<\/p>\n<p>Now here\u2019s the thing. I like to think I\u2019m a pretty good listener; I listen, I ask questions, and I\u2019m pretty okay at keeping a conversation running with that. But I\u2019ve been finding myself painting a lot of seagulls during conversations. Not in sales, of course, seeing as I don\u2019t do sales in my everyday life (unless we\u2019re talking about non-sales selling, but I\u2019m putting that aside for now. Yes I do non-sales selling. No I\u2019m not going to talk about it again), but just talking to friends. It\u2019s not that I don\u2019t listen. I do; I sit down, I listen, I ask questions to understand the context of a situation, but then\u2026 I just can\u2019t\u2026 help myself\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHere\u2019s what you need to do\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>ELISE NO!<\/p>\n<p>Now it\u2019s out. My big problem. I just can\u2019t stop painting seagulls y\u2019all.<\/p>\n<p>Okay, so its not a <em>big<\/em> problem, but it\u2019s definitely something I\u2019ve noticed since reading about this rule. And if my friends ask for advice (great idea by the way. I give awesome advice. Boyfriend got you an ugly hat? Throw it in Wolf Creek. Computer not working? Wolf Creek.
