Last semester I had the opportunity to sell Peppi’s Subs as a fundraiser for Young Life Camp. Every year here at Grove City College, Young Life leaders have to raise $350 to help offset the cost of camp. Young Life is always doing fundraisers, and having the opportunity to sell subs made it more fun. Last semester I ended up selling $260 worth of subs in just two days. I felt that having a deadline also encouraged customers to be willing to buy because they would get their sub sooner and a deadline helped me to close a deal quicker as well. I saw how with limited time more people were quicker to tell me a decision on the spot instead of having days to think about a decision that they will not go through with. During the process, I learned a lot about selling, such as selling the story of helping kids go to summer camp to experience Jesus and to have fun. I had a lot fun selling the subs to my friends on campus because it was going to a good cause with a great incentive attached to it. I learned how everyone I asked will probably not say yes to buying a sub, but that shouldn’t stop me from still asking. I also learned that as a seller, more people are willing to buy when you’re enthusiastic about your product and especially if you bought that product too. Most of my friends were more willing to buy a sub when I also bought one too. As this semester is slowly starting up again, Penn West Young Life is also starting up their Peppi’s Sub fundraiser. As I reflect back on my time last semester selling subs, I can definitely apply what I learned this time around to continue fundraising for camp. Overall, I liked having the opportunity to practice my sales skills and to help make a difference.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
