At first, hearing the word no felt discouraging. I would tend to take it personally and start to doubt myself all over again. But over time I\u2019ve learned that rejection is just part of the process, it\u2019s not a reflection of my worth or ability. Prof Sweet has talked about the opportunity that comes from rejection in class a lot. Knowing this, now I try to see every no as an opportunity to learn. I ask myself what I could have done differently. Did I fully understand the customer\u2019s needs? Did I communicate the value of my product or service clearly? Sometimes the answer is yes, and it still doesn\u2019t work out and i have to understand that\u2019s okay. Not every product is the right fit for every person.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">One thing that\u2019s helped me is trying to shift my mindset. Instead of fearing rejection, I have to expect it. Sales is a numbers game most of the time, and not every conversation will lead to a deal. When I accept that reality I feel less pressure and more freedom to focus on improving. I\u2019ve also learned the importance of being resilient within sales. The ability to bounce back after a rejection is what I think can separates average salespeople from great ones. Each no brings me one step closer to a yes and keeping that perspective helps me stay motivated. I made a post earlier in the semester talking about my landscaping business and that is where i have been able to learn some thing about rejection and use what Sweet has taught us.<\/p>\n<p>In the end, rejection isn\u2019t something to avoid, it\u2019s something to embrace.
