By putting the customer first, you as a salesman demonstrate that you actually do care about them.\u00a0This\u00a0is one\u00a0of the\u00a0most important parts of relationship selling. Putting the customer first might be as simple as giving them a follow-up call after the sale of a product, or it might be difficult, like having trouble with the delivery of an order and having to\u00a0hand-deliver it yourself because it is the day before their big event and\u00a0that&#8217;s when you said it would be there (not that this has happened to me or anything).\u00a0Once they\u00a0have this understanding that you really do care for them\u00a0and you respect them as a customer, they will\u00a0begin to trust you. This trust produces loyalty.\u00a0We all know how important loyalty is.\u00a0A loyal customer will almost always\u00a0stick\u00a0with you as a rep or your company as a whole for years to come. They will come\u00a0to you first if there is a problem rather\u00a0than just moving on\u00a0to a competitor.
