{"id":2123,"date":"2016-04-10T19:15:51","date_gmt":"2016-04-10T19:15:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gccwebsites.com\/startupsales\/?p=2123"},"modified":"2016-04-10T19:15:51","modified_gmt":"2016-04-10T19:15:51","slug":"selling-principles-salespeople-often-get-wrong","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gccwebsites.com\/startupsales\/selling-principles-salespeople-often-get-wrong\/","title":{"rendered":"Selling Principles Salespeople Often Get Wrong"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was reading an article from Forbes.com titled &#8220;10 Essential Selling Principles Most Salespeople Get Wrong&#8221; and I thought it correlated well with what we have been studying in class so I thought I would share those principles here!<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>They assume that the problem the prospect communicates is the real problem.<\/li>\n<li>They think their sales presentation is what will seal the deal.<\/li>\n<li>They talk too much.<\/li>\n<li>They believe they can sell anybody anything.<\/li>\n<li>They end up over-educating the seller rather than selling.<\/li>\n<li>They forget that salespeople are decision-makers too.<\/li>\n<li>They try to read the prospects&#8217; mind.<\/li>\n<li>They end up working as an &#8220;unpaid sales consultant&#8221; to seal the deal.<\/li>\n<li>They become their own worst enemy.<\/li>\n<li>They hope that their prospect won&#8217;t discover a problem with the product.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>What I really enjoyed about this article is that all of the above principles come from David Mattson&#8217;s book, <em>The Sandler Rules<\/em>. Each Principle is correlated to a rule and they all truly are tactics or mistakes that people frequently make in their hurry to close a deal.
