Just a mere 30 seconds of screen time can end up costing upwards of millions of dollars for the business that is being advertised and sold to the consumer. This amount of time brings a whole new meaning to the idea of an elevator pitch, as instead of going in to deep detail on why the product or service is so great, usually advertisers vie for more unconventional methods to catch the eye of the “average Joe”. To those who had the Supper Bowl on in the background of their party this year, they may not of noticed that there was one commercial starring actor Adam Driver that was one-of-a-kind.

https://youtu.be/_9M_wQDTTdk

At the beginning of the ad, Adam stumbles on to the set of what looks to be an obvious wild west town. What surprises the viewer and people acting on set is that he is talking about the current score of the game at the half while the other actors are pretending to tell him to be quite because they are live on air. Madness ensues as Adam falls against a set piece and the whole town begins to fall apart and catch on fire. What is really revolutionary about this ad is that it takes place all at once completely live-on-air. Even though it had hardly anything to do with the fact that it was a Snickers commercial, (you ruin live Super bowl commercials when you are hungry) people associate the uniqueness of the commercial with the brand who sponsored it. This is an unexplored realm of live commercials and movies which is just beginning to occur in the world. It will be interesting to see if the consumer and movie patron will approve of the genuine realism that it presents, or will reject it as a novelty ploy by big corporations to sell more of their products and services.

The football Super bowl is one of the biggest advertising events of the year.
