{"id":2752,"date":"2017-02-13T14:38:34","date_gmt":"2017-02-13T14:38:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gccwebsites.com\/startupsales\/?p=2752"},"modified":"2017-02-13T14:38:34","modified_gmt":"2017-02-13T14:38:34","slug":"mirroring","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gccwebsites.com\/startupsales\/mirroring\/","title":{"rendered":"Mirroring"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I first heard the concept of &#8220;mirroring&#8221; in a sales podcast, where the interviewer and the interviewee talked on and on about the \u00a0psychology behind this high effective sales skill. \u00a0Now, you are probably wondering: what is mirroring? \u00a0Essentially, mirroring is when the salesperson replicates the movements or actions of the customer to increase trust. \u00a0If this technique seems advanced, that&#8217;s because it is. \u00a0Salespeople spend months to even years being able to execute this skill consistently and genuinely. \u00a0 The reason mirroring is attributed to a higher potential for success is because of the raport building area of the sales process. \u00a0People respond better and trust people that are more like them, even down to mannerisms. \u00a0Using this to their advantage, salespeople mirror to build this sort of trust.<\/p>\n<p>Since not many customers know about mirroring, this makes it easy for salespeople to mirror undetected. \u00a0Not only that, but the customer most likely doesn&#8217;t know that the salesperson is &#8220;trying&#8221; to act like them. \u00a0So when is enough mirroring? \u00a0At what point can advanced salespeople transition into a close? \u00a0After enough trust is built through mirroring, the salesperson may then try his own mannerism very discretely. \u00a0This could be the scratch of a head or twiddling of your fingers. \u00a0If the customer then repeats that movement, then you have successfully built enough trust. \u00a0(Incredible how psychology works, right!) \u00a0Quite like fishing, you must be patient in this process. \u00a0You may have to throw out your line a couple of times to get a nibble, but ultimately you&#8217;ll be able to reel in a good one!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I first heard the concept of &#8220;mirroring&#8221; in a sales podcast, where the interviewer and the interviewee talked on and on about the \u00a0psychology behind this high effective sales skill. \u00a0Now, you are probably wondering: what is mirroring? \u00a0Essentially, mirroring is when the salesperson replicates the movements or actions of the customer to increase trust.
