Even extroverted folks who enjoy meeting new people can have a hard time with this. We talked in class about the usual conversation starter: what do you do? A better starter would be to ask: Where are you from?<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t necessarily think it\u2019s bad to ask someone about their hometown or current living location. After almost four years of college, however, I\u2019ve had to give my small speech about being a Texan in Grove City quite a few times. While this can still lead to an interesting conversation, there are times where a more surprising question would be a nice change of pace.<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to conversation starting in sales, I think it would be interesting to try some different starters. I found this list of six great conversations starters that salespeople could use with their customers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/salesdrive.info\/brilliant-sales-conversation-starters\/\">https:\/\/salesdrive.info\/brilliant-sales-conversation-starters\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve summarized the points below:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Ask something personal based on the customer\u2019s LinkedIn profile.\n<ul>\n<li>If you are meeting with a specific client, this can be a great way to show you\u2019ve done your research.<\/li>\n<li>Ask how your customer knows someone else or how they got involved with a project or company.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Ask a question about a popular piece of content within the customer\u2019s industry.\n<ul>\n<li>You could ask about blogs or websites that are popular within certain industries.<\/li>\n<li>Checking a client\u2019s social media can give you good clues for this!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Asking about a recent popular event\n<ul>\n<li>Just avoid religion and politics here. You don\u2019t want to start a spirited debate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Comment about what the customer recently did.\n<ul>\n<li>They may have posted about a recent conference or event on social media<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Ask about a customer\u2019s specific job role.\n<ul>\n<li>Always a good question to help you find out more about who your customer is and what they do within their company.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Ask about any recent announcements from the customer\u2019s company\n<ul>\n<li>Did they just merge with another company? Did the CEO announce an impressive new product growth plan? This will help you get to know your customer\u2019s thoughts on the company providing you with more insight as to how to meet their needs!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Starting conversations can be tricky, awkward, and confusing.
