Googles Rich Cards

Rich Cards were implemented by Google in the US back in 2016. Then globally March 28th, 2017. They were created with the purpose of giving site owners a better way to present previews of their content to users. Improving off Rich Snippets, Cards still use schema.org to display the content. But in a format that is more engaging and works much better on mobile devices.

As shown in class and on the Google discussion, Cards are useful for displaying things such as recipes. Or personally, I use it to see cars and car parts. This format makes it quicker for users to look at everything without ever actually going to the website. And of course, all of this new and better engagement is tracked on Analytics for the site owners to see which Cards are working and which ones are not.

I had no idea what those things were called and that they even had a name at all until class today. I like carousel aspect of them too. I also agree with the you saying it makes it way easier to look at everything than clicking on individual sites

Before this class, I didn’t know anything about this. However, I did subconsciously believe that the websites that supplied the blurbs at the top of the SERP were the most authoritative. That just proves to you how important these snippets are.
