The world of SEO is complex and always growing/changing. In such a fluid environment, it is great to have some thought leaders to keep up with and follow as you consider your own journey with SEO.

Rand Fishkin is one of these thought leaders. The founder of Moz and SparkToro, Rand Fishkin is an expert SEO mind, and someone to keep up with.

Fishkin’s contributions to SEO

Fishkin authored a famous, and incredibly informational, book titled, Lost and Founder. The book discusses the many challenged of startups and offers interesting insights on the importance of Marketing, especially SEO. He also contributed to the works, Art of SEO, and Inbound Marketing & SEO.

In 2004, he created the SEOmoz blog, which, over the next decade, became the world’s most popular community and content resource for search marketers. In 2007, the company (Moz) transitioned from consulting to software and Rand took the role of CEO. Eventually, he stepped down from Moz and began his startup SparkToro, which shows who your audience is, what they talk about, and where to reach them. A super helpful tool for any search engine optimizer.

His wealth of knowledge and his very helpful tools have changed the world of SEO and given creators a wealth of knowledge otherwise unavailable to them. Fishkin is definitely a name to follow in the SEO world.

    I never heard of Fishkin until today, but based off his extensive history in SEO world it definitely makes him a power house name. It is crazy to think that his blog became the worlds most popular community for search marketers. And then left to start a completely different yet successful company

    Woah, the founder of Moz? This is some great information about tools to use in SEO. I found it interesting how he was able to predict the future so well that he started this in 2004, before most major social media websites and before SEO really became as big as it is now.

    Thanks for the information on Fishkin. It’s always nice to get some good background about folks discussed in class. I think it’s neat that he called his book “Lost and Founder.” Really creative title. He also sounds like he has an absolute wealth of experience with SEO.
