Overall, SEO has been a very interesting class. At first, I was worried that the class would focus heavily on the technical side of SEO. As someone who is terrible with technology (I don’t think I’ve been connected to the wi-fi for at least three days now), the strategies we learned about in this class are focused on the end-user and can easily be achieved with the tools available through WordPress and other sites.
The most valuable lesson I took away from SEO was to focus on the user and the content first. It is important to create content that delivers valuable information to your users in a way that is easy to read and understand. To do this, you first have to understand your user. I wasn’t expecting to see this direct correlation between starting a business and starting a website.
It was so cool to see how all the tools and strategies we learned about culminated into our final website design. At the beginning of the semester, I never thought that I would be able to create a website. However, it wasn’t too bad after breaking down who your target user was and what content they would want. Because I created my website around something I am also super passionate about, the project was a positive experience that combined all that I had learned and showed how far I came.

i agree! learning the importance of putting the users first was super valuable and something that will definitely help in the future
Couldn’t agree more! SEO can seem intimidating, especially for those of us who aren’t tech-savvy. But I found that the focus on user experience and valuable content made all the difference. It’s amazing how understanding your target audience and their needs can shape the success of your website. And you’re absolutely right, starting a business and building a website go hand in hand. The tools and strategies we learned in class allowed us to create functional and engaging websites, even for beginners. It’s empowering to see how far we’ve come and how much we’ve learned throughout the semester. Kudos to everyone for their hard work and impressive website designs!
Also could not agree more since I believed the same too. Definitely did not think I could master any of the content at the beginning, but Sweet has made it easy and fun to learn about SEO. It is also real world experience in the classroom
Yes, honestly I have had similar takeaways. The overall message is to focus on the users and create natural content for those users to consume. Everything else will pretty much fall into place once you have mastered those two elements.
