SEO Blog post #1

I am very interested in SEO but have very limited experience. As a senior graduating in may, many of the jobs I am exploring and interested in have components related to SEO. I was curious why SEO is so prevalent and why it matters so I read an article for this blog post about why SEO is important. This article went through 10 reasons that SEO matters and I found it really interesting so I’ll share them in here. The first reason is that search engines generate a lot of traffic. People are constantly using search engines these days so it is a very important way to get traffic and notice. The second reason is that SEO is very cost effective. SEO can cost virtually nothing and bring in immense traffic. The third reason is that search visibility drives brand awareness and authority. The fourth reason is that your companies competitors are probably already doing it. This is a good point, that if you aren’t actively doing something in SEO to promote your brand, your competitors probably are. The fifth reason is that SEO success supports other marketing efforts. The sixth reason was that you can reach prospects throughout the buying journey. The seventh reason is that optimization efforts can improve the user experience. The eighth reason is that keyword research makes you aware of market trends. The ninth reason is that SEO results are quantifiable. The tenth and final reason is that it helps you protect your brand. Reading this article and these reasons was very eye-opening and helpful for me to understand the significance of SEO today. SEO is vital to the growth and sustainability of any organization and allows for a cheap way to increase brand awareness and grow a company! Here’s the article I used to my insights: https://www.semrush.com/blog/importance-of-seo/

Jenna, great work on your blog post! Since you are a Design and Innovation major, I can imagine that SEO is extremely relevant with the jobs you are applying to. Learning more about it and better understanding the importance of it will definitely give you a leg up in your job search. Best of luck and I hope you learn a lot in this course!

    Hi Jenna!

I also have very limited knowledge of and experience with SEO, so it was cool to read about what you researched and gain a better understanding myself! I also noticed that you said that a lot of jobs were wanting proficiency in SEO which sort of surprised me because I thought SEO was a nice skill to have but wouldn’t be required of me in a job, so this is good to know. I’m all the more grateful I took this class now 🙂

I love the fact that you did your research as well as came up with all of these reasons to appreciate SEO more. It is a very important skill to have in your marketing toolbelt when it comes to reaching your potential customers in an effective manner.

Jenna, I also am beginning to realize how relevant SEO is for designers and people in the field of design. I think it is so important to understand SEO and how it affects both positively, and if there is a lack of it, negatively the brand awareness of a company. I am looking forward to understanding SEO more as a future designer so I can learn how to best maximize search results as I become experienced in the field of design.
