SEO Blog Post #1

As a Supply Chain Management major, I have little experience with SEO–the extent of it being from my Digital Marketing course I took my freshman year. Going into this course, my understanding of SEO is that it essentially ensures that a target audience is seeing what your company has to offer prior to seeing what other company’s have to offer. It is positioning yourself in a way that people notice you first and you are able to stand out to your customers. Because of my limited knowledge of SEO, I decided to take this course!

To learn more about SEO, I found an article titled “15 Reasons Why SEO is Important for Business” (by Search Engine Journal), and I am gonna focus on the ones that stand out to me the most, and that I find the most relevant. The article begins by highlighting the fact that the need for SEO keeps increasing, and that is not going to change. One point that the article makes is that SEO Builds Trust and Credibility, and it states that this is not something that happens overnight. Building trust and credibility takes authority, patience, commitment, and a strong effort. The article also states that the better the SEO, the better the user experience, and in today’s day and age, we know that user experience is vital and shapes a customer’s view of the company. Lastly, I’d like to highlight the point of the article that says that an investment in SEO is a long-term strategy that is worth investing in. SEO is cheap, but the article states that the more time, effort, and money you put into it, the more it will pay out in the long run, and it will give the company a leg up in the industry and allow them to be a worthy contender. This article helped me further understand what SEO is, why it’s important, and why companies need to be staying up to date with the trends of SEO.
