Airbnb is a rental property site that allows people to find vacation rentals, cabins, beach houses, and more. Airbnb has more than 7 million active listings and has helped over 1 million guests find rentals in over 220 countries and destinations. Their site offers easy searches for location, check in and check out dates, and number of people in the stay.
Airbnb uses search engine optimization strategies to increase the visibility of listings, which helps lead to more bookings and higher revenue for your rental property. In order to have your listing show up higher in Airbnb searches, search engine optimization strategies like keywords, competitive pricing, and high-quality photos are the way to go.
Airbnb has a search algorithm that is designed to match guests with the perfect accommodations for their needs during their stay. Listers who provide more information that is tailored to their guests have a better chance of appearing at the top of search results. The ranking factors that Airbnb has are completeness of the listing, guest preferences, price competitiveness, quality of reviews, quality of photos, and more.
Completeness of the listing means that the listing has detailed information which helps guests make better informed decisions about where to stay. Guest preference ranks based on past searches, bookings, and interactions on the platform, tailoring specific rentals to a target audience. This benefits both the lister and the customer. Price competitiveness is based on the location of the rental, the amenities it has, and the time of year to ensure a fair market value. Quality of reviews is based on high-quality, positive reviews from people who have rented the space in the past. Highest quality reviews receive the best rankings on Airbnb. Quality of photos is based on high-quality, well-lit photos that make the rental space stand out from the rest.
Many other factors help contribute to the rankings on Airbnb, a site that has utilized search engine optimization in a great way to help listers and customers find exactly what they are looking for, the perfect space for them to enjoy.

That is so interesting that Airbnb uses strategies similar to regular SEO to help people listing their home achieve a higher rank on their site. High quality pictures are like relevant content and competitive pricing also helps to achieve a higher rank. I never realized that businesses use SEO technique on their own websites. I really enjoyed your blog post.
I have always used Airbnb for rentals as opposed to Vrbo, and it might have something to do with the things you listed in your post. I’m not sure if Vrbo uses the same type of SEO, but I feel like Airbnb always gives me better choices and prices based on what I am looking for. The photos part of the SEO is huge as well, as I feel the photos on Vrbo are lacking. Great post and very informative.
