SEO Blog #2

In an article by Agility PR Solutions, they discuss 10 facts about SEO that are helpful and interesting to know. When I read this article, some of the facts were very surprising to me. The more I read about SEO and explore this topic, the more I realize how important it is, and this article only further proved that point. A fact that the article states is that the majority of website traffic comes from search results, not from advertisements. What does this mean for SEO? This only further emphasizes the need for well, established SEO. People find ads to be shady or non-trustworthy, meaning that SEO has established itself as being trusted and a reliable way to find information. Another fact is that the length of a web page’s content can positively impact its search ranking. It further explains that longer articles allow for more opportunities for relevant keywords to be included. Because of this, many websites are now focused on creating longer, more elaborate, in-depth articles that have the opportunity of improving search visibility for their potential viewers. The 7th fact stated in the article explains that the faster a website loads, the more likely it is to rank higher in search results. Not only this, but faster websites improve the user experience and accessibility. That being said, the load time of a website is crucial, and websites should prioritize this factor for their website. Another fact is that local SEO is more important than ever. Local SEO is exactly what it sounds like, it is local businesses or services central to the location you are searching from. Local SEO optimizes your websites online presence for local search results. I would assume that many small, local businesses do not know this, but the solution is quite simple. They simply have to claim and verify their Google My Business listing, and from there focus on building backlinks. These facts show the significance of SEO, and specifically keyword research, backlinks, load time, and many other key components. SEO is constantly changing, and staying up to date with it could directly impact your company’s success.

The load times are super important. I find that if a site takes even 15 seconds to fully load I already am impatient and might spend even less time on the site looking for relevant information. On the other hand, if a site loads quickly I will definitely spend longer on it viewing the content and looking around at the information. Its funny how just a few seconds can impact a lot of viewers online.

Hi! I thought your point about longform content was really interesting. I wouldn’t expect that longform content would boost ranking because of our short attention spans in the modern world, but it makes a lot of sense that longer content allows for more opportunities to use keywords.

Libby, you found a great article and I think you did a fantastic job explaining some of the facts that you learned. I find the speed time to be such a significant factor not only for SEO purposes but for the user. How tragic would it be to have such a beautiful website that solves significant pains for users but nobody ever sees it because it doesn’t load in fast enough and it gets sent back in the SERP.
