Mobile-first Indexing SEO Strategies

Mobile is one of the fastest-growing platforms people search on. Mobile phones are always on us and always connected which allows searchers to perform searches anywhere at any time. This causes SEO professionals to use different strategies to make sure their site is ranking high on the SERP. This blog will take a looks at mobile indexing strategies to help take your SEO to the next level.

A responsive design is essential for creating a mobile friendly website. This keeps in mind the users first. We want as SEO specialist to always be focusing on how can we make the users experience best and a responsive design allows the website to look good on a phone. It allows the searcher to navigate through the website easily. Google often recommends a responsive design because it is easy to implement and maintain. In addition, to keeping the user in mind, SEO specialist must have the google spider in mind as well. On a mobile website, we must make sure that google can crawl on our resources and we must make sure that the URLs are not blocked and lead somewhere. This can allow google to rank the site high on the SERP. Another, very important strategy is making sure that the content on desktop is the same as mobile. Even though you are creating a responsive design to allow for a greater user experience. You must keep the content the same because google indexes based on the mobile site not the desktop when searching on a mobile device. If you don’t keep the content the same it could hurt all the SEO work you have already done. Finally, provide high quality images, supported format for images, and don’t use URLs that change every time the page loads for images. All these things are essential for google to index your resources properly. Getting Mobile SEO right is critical to be successful.

Hi, I also wrote about mobile first websites and how to design them for SEO. It’s interesting because you have to keep the content the same, as you mentioned, while adjusting the interface for users on desktop versus mobile. You explained it well with your point about the google spider and how it indexes based on the mobile site for mobile users.

Regardless of what you are doing, it is always good to keep the customer in mind. At the end of the day, they are going to be the ones interacting with the search engine and ultimately the website.
