Working on the project of optimizing a page on the Grove City College website has made me curious about what the best practices for content optimization are. In an article by SemRush, they outlined the 14 most effective contents for better results with content optimizaiton. This blog post will cover why content optimization is important and the top five best tactics to achieve better results!
Content optimization is defined as “the process of improving and updating your website content to ensure that it performs well.” It is important because it can improve search engine rankings, increase website traffic, maintain search engine rankings over time, and can help achieve a better return on investment. It can be a very useful tool when marketing budgets are tight and optimizing old content may be the best route to improve search engine rankings.
The first way to do this is to optimize content to meet search intent. Search intent is what users are trying to achieve when they enter a query or what they mean by their search. There are typically 4 types of search intent: informational, transactional, navigational, and commercial. This is such an important starting point to build all of your content off of. The second main suggestion is to target relevant secondary keywords. The goal is incorporate them naturally throughout the post. The third tip is to make sure your content is easy to understand. This can be done by using a clear heading structure, prioritizing an active voice, incorporating visuals, and improving the narrative flow. The fourth suggestion is to keep your content up to date to maintain overall accuracy and to be known as a reliable, credible source. The fifth suggestion is to optimize your content for on-page SEO. These are things we have reviewed in class such as title tags, meta descriptions, and alt text.

This is a really great post! I like how you highlighted five different tactics of search engine optimization to receive better results. Search intent is crucial because you want to know what your target customers are searching for and make your content specific to what they want. Keywords are important because they will help you rank higher because customers can search for those keywords and find your site from them.
