On Page vs Off Page SEO: What’s The Difference

There are two main types of SEO when it comes to the basics. On site and off site SEO. The main difference between the two is that on site SEO is SEO that is on your website and off site SEO is SEO that is not on your website. There are lots of different types of each and both are important to overall SEO efforts. The main focuses of on site SEO are content writing, keyword optimization, and site design. The main off site focuses are link building and off site content. Both types of SEO require lots of hard work and research but in different areas. On site SEO focuses a lot on researching your customers and what they are looking for that you can provide. In off site SEO you are researching more about other sites you can link with and examining competitors optimization efforts. When it comes to how these two categories affect your overall rank in the SERP, on site will help keep clients on your site and will minorly affect your rank on Google but off site will help greatly depending on what kinds of sites you link to. If you are able to link to sites that have a lot of authority in the area of content you are writing, then your rank will increase but if they don’t really have authority your rank will barely change at all. Even though it may seem that on site optimization is not necessary, it is very important for your business. If people are not able to find what they are looking for on your site because it is confusing, then they won’t stay on your site or purchase anything. On the other hand, if your site is optimized well and is clearly laid out, then people will remain on your site longer and the chances of a conversion happening are higher. Hopefully you can clearly see that both on site and off site SEO are vital to the success of your business.
