In light of the recent release of Suzanne Collins’ latest book, Sunrise on the Reaping, I am going to take a look at the status of her website and look for ways that she can improve her SEO.
While her website does rank first when I enter the search query “Suzanne Collins,” the website itself is not optimized as well as it could be. The site is ranked number 9 in a list of Bad Website Examples in 2023, and it looks as though the current version of the website has not changed drastically since then.
Not only is the website not optimized well, but Collins also does not have any official social media accounts. If Collins could hire someone to do her digital marketing both on her website and on social media, I think it would be very beneficial for garnering more excitement and communication between her and her fans.
But as for her website specifically, some changes should be made. First of all, the website looks outdated and unofficial, like a blog. I recommend that she give the website more of a modern feel, update the colors and add a hero image at the top of the homepage. She should also add more image and video content throughout, since there is currently a lot of body text content on the home page that very few people are actually going to go through and read.
There is good information on the website already, but it could be organized better. Additionally, if she had a marketer, or a marketing team, they could have a blog where they could regularly post updates or interesting things about her books or events that are happening. And, the website could link back to social media where she could gain a following and share relevant information about possible book tours, signings, events, or fun facts about writing or the stories themselves.
Because her books have also been turned into blockbusters, she could mention that on her website as well. Since she is the author, and not the movie-maker, she did not have as much of a role in the creation of the films. However, they are still adaptations of her work, which she could promote on her website to entice people to want to buy her books.
Also, since it seems like she has not put a ton of effort into SEO, I think she should come up with a content strategy as well as some target keywords.
There is a lot of potential for Suzanne Collins’ website – she just needs to take advantage of the opportunity!

This is some great advice, Collins’ website could definitely use a refresh. The organization is a big part of what could be improved.
I agree that a new look for her content would create a much greater online presence with the content that she is generating. She has great material, but with a revamp of the site, new users and readers would be more intrigued by the content.
