SEO Blog post #9

This week, I read an article about mistakes people make in search engine optimization and it listed 32 things to avoid in your SEO practices. The first one is poor understanding of your target audience which can lead to assuming demographics that are not in your target market. The second mistake to avoid in SEO is a lack of an SEO strategy and the roadmap to achieve it. The third mistake is a lack of quality content on the site. The fourth mistake is publishing copied content. It’s so important to make your content engaging and unique. The fifth mistake would be skipping meta tags, this is greatly decrease your optimization. The sixth mistake is missing quality links on the website. The seventh mistake is overdoing internal links on the website. While you want your site to be engaging and optimized, you also don’t want it to be too overwhelming. The eighth mistake in SEO is not investing in a mobile-friendly website. Another mistake would be not focusing on site speed. The final mistake that stuck out to me was not considering the importance of social signals for SEO. Social signals are so significant in the ranking of your website so it is vital that you are regularly checking and considering where your page is ranking in search engine optimization.

Jenna, good job on this post! I really enjoyed reading your thoughts on this article you read. Most posts I have read this semester have been on the topic of what good SEO is, but this post took a different perspective on the topic of what things to avoid in SEO. Your thoughts gave me good insight on this topic.

having the most common SEO mistakes in a list makes it easy for me to know what to double check before a site goes live. otherwise the only thing I can do is remind myself to make things user first.
