Ensuring that your website has a high ranking is very important to increase traffic on your website. Your website can be everything a consumer needs and wants to see but it may as well be nonexistent if you are not highly ranked and do not appear on the first page of google search results. There are many different ways to gain a higher website ranking, and a lot of them surround the importance of keywords. Keywords are common words or phrases that people type into a search engine to find information, products, or services. One way to get higher website rankings is to use keywords in the correct place. The importance of keyword placement is commonly underestimated within SEO. Most often, where you use keywords is just as important as how many times you use them. Keywords should appear at least once in your page’s title tag, URL, and within the first 100 words of your content. Another way to gain a higher ranking on google is to add related keywords to your content. By adding synonyms of keywords in your content, you are allowing for a wider range of people to find your website. If someone is trying to search something that your website contains, but they use a synonym for one of your keywords, they may never come across your site if you do not also include those synonyms in your content as well. Creating your own branded keywords is also extremely beneficial to give your site a higher rank and increase traffic on it. If you create your own terms and keywords, you are able completely dominate any search with those words because you will not only be one of few sites that actually use those terms, but you will also have rights to those terms which gives you credibility and more authority over other sites. It is important not to downplay the different methods of using keywords in the content of your website.

Hi Gwen! Keywords are such an essential part to SEO, and it’s great to see you bringing that to light. In my article, I touched on keywords and mentioned how they are the main playing field for SEO.
