Considering you are taking this course…and reading this…you probably already have your answer to this question. However, in the case you find yourself in a situation where you are trying to convince someone not to pay someone to do SEO or even to pay you, I have compiled the three arguments you can use in your favor.
#1 – Most of SEO relies on content
In the case of SEO, content is key. Search engines are looking to deliver high quality content to their users. Therefore, your content is the most important factor for ranking well in search engines. Write for your users, make sure you are authentic, avoid being “spammy” or “mechanic.” Ensure that you have plenty of good, quality content, filled with keywords and phrases to bring traffic to your site.
#2 – SEO is relatively simple
While there is a lot of information you can learn about SEO, you can learn basic tips and tricks very easily that can boost your content greatly. By simply watching a few videos or reading a few articles, you can learn the top tips you can increase your standing very quickly. For a place to start, watch videos or read about keywords and content writing, or even simply looking up “SEO for beginners” can give you a great start.
#3 – Free Site Evaluations
Many sites are available to do free SEO evaluations on your site. This can give you great intel into how you are doing and in what areas you need to improve. Some sites you can refer to are SEOptimer, seobility, SEO Site Checkup, or HubSpot’s Website Grader.
To conclude, if you or a friend was considering paying someone to do SEO, I hope these points help you to realize you do not need to. You can optimize your site all by yourself.

Very true! While SEO can seem daunting at first, its not really that complicated. There are plenty of free resources online to help anyone do it themselves.
I totally agree! I actually wrote my blog post on #1. Content is a key component in SEO and can help solve problems and the need that the user has. It should be catered and delivered based on what the user wants and your best estimate of what the user is looking for!
I think this blog post would be incredibly helpful for someone entering the world of SEO. SEO is a less popular (yet crucial) part of business optimization and I think it would be a temptation for a new business man or woman to just outsource it to a third party. You don’t need to!
