What is Content Quality and Why is it Important in SEO?

What is content quality? Content quality is measured by how well your site’s content fulfills the user’s intent. Is the content they’re reading, watching, or listening to going to satisfy their needs or answer their questions? Your content must be clear and easy to follow and answer the questions they have. Your brand will build loyalty and authority if your site offers helpful and reliable information to the target audience. Your audience is seeking value and will not spend time on your site if that value is hard to find. Google also recognizes when a site has good quality content and if it matches the user’s search query.

Not only should your content be clear and easy to read but it must be engaging. Is it something the user will want to participate in? Is there a call to action? Will they enjoy this? These are important questions to ask when you are creating website content. Users are more likely to stay on your page longer if they like the content they are viewing.

In addition, there are some other considerations to keep in mind when making content. Longer text content typically performs better when it is between 1,500 to 2,500 words. It looks more reliable because it is more information dense. Additionally, you have the opportunity to include more keywords and address more questions your visitor may have with longer-form content. Next, you want your content to be fresh and have updated information. Google will not select sites that have old, outdated content.

Keep your audience in mind throughout the content creation process. Content with elaborate words and unfamiliar terms is not necessarily going to rank high. Rather, clear, helpful, engaging, and honest information is going to demonstrate to Google that your site is trustworthy and greatly help in your SEO rankings.
