SEO for Tiny Homes and other Niche Businesses

One of my good friends built a tiny home over the summer and is looking to make it into a full-fledged small business. A tiny home is basically a house built on a drivable trailer. They have everything a person could need, they’re just…tiny. So, how could my friend, David, optimize a website?
Well, he should utilize three important parts.

First, long tail keywords. If you were to look up “Small homes in Oregon” there’s no chance that his company would even come close to coming up; and definitely not on the first page. For a small, niche business, David should use keywords like “moder farmhouse tiny homes in Oregon” or “Rustic Tiny Homes Businesses in Oregon.” These specified keywords give David a much better chance at being seen. The same goes for good content. If David just put a word document on his site that talked about how good he was at building tiny homes, no one would see his site. What he should do is post pictures that he took while building his tiny home and attach videos of him crafting it. These build trust and reputation on his site. As we all know, SEO should be user focused. So, the last thing David should do is post short blogs and/or videos of him teaching different parts of building a Tiny Home. Obviously, he doesn’t want to make his company purely D.I.Y., a short video here or a quick blurb there can help his customer’s grow in their own confidence of home improvement but also in their confidence in his ability.

What I really appreciate is the focus on specificity instead of going head-on with big keywords from the start. Sharing actual build photos and videos is a great call. It builds way more confidence than just saying the right things. Throwing in some small tutorials is a clever move, since it shows you know your stuff without handing over all your secrets.
