This course has been my first introduction to the concepts of search engine optimization. As this course has progressed, the concepts have been clear and concise, but I wanted to know more about some key elements or vocabulary that are important in SEO. Right away I learned that there were two categories for SEO elements: on-page SEO and off-page SEO.
On-page SEO represents the elements on the website that we are able to control. Crawlability and indexability are considered to be on-page SEO elements. Crawlability is in reference to how well search engines are able to discover a website’s page. This is key in order for possible clients or consumers to find your website and gain traction. In class this week we discussed a little bit on the topic of keywords. Keywords fall into the category of on-page SEO. Establishing a proper number of keywords is useful to allow the search engine to know what your page is about and be able to lead consumers to it. I also discovered the concept of E-A-T (expertise, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness). All three components are key in making a successful and accurate site. You want the authors to be well informed on the topic. You want the site to have a great reputation. Finally, you want consumers to know they can trust the information and overall nature of the site.
Off-page SEO is in reference to the factors outside of the website that cannot be directly controlled. As I did more research, I found these elements to be less familiar to me. Backlinks are elements that are part of off-page SEO. Backlinks are links that are from other websites that are on your website. This is considered to be an off-page SEO element because you control directly who links to your site. This can be motivation to create high-quantity content that individuals will want to link to and use to add value to their sites. The rise of social media has also had a major influence on SEO. Social media allows for individuals to share content with each other easily. You are unable to control who shares your content, but it is great for increasing traffic to your site.
There are so many components that go into SEO, and it is up to us, the creators, to use those to the best of our ability and create a high-quality and easy-to-use website.
Below are the links I used to aid in my research!

It was really cool to learn about the differences between on-site and off-site SEO. I knew about some of these things but didn’t realize that they were all considered SEO strategies! Good job on your post!
Good, insightful post! I have never heard of EAT before, but that is a good way to remember the important aspects on on-site SEO. As I have been getting more into digital marketing, I have been hearing more about backlinks, although I feel like I still do not one-hundred percent understand them. I would like to see if we get to learn more about them later in this class.
