In a LinkedIn article by Aman Arora, he lists out 21 interesting SEO facts that were relevant in 2024. The first fact that he says was shocking to me, and very relevant to search engines. It is that Google processes over 8.5 billion searches per day. With each of those, they are ranked according to many criteria, and that effects which sites we will see first when we search for various different subjects. Another fact stated is that over 60% of searches are done on a mobile device. Because of this, optimizing mobile platforms is crucial for the overall and long-term success of search engine optimization. The article also states that backlinks, which are links from other websites to yours, are a very significant ranking factor. And with that, quality and relevance matter much more than quality matters. Going off of that, another fact, which we have discussed in class, is that content is king. High quality and relevant content is still one of the top search engine optimization ranking factors. Keeping content updated and informative can help your site rank higher overall. As I’ve discussed in other posts, Arora brings home the fact that local SEO is vital. Having an established local SEO can drive in foot traffic and online visibility, which ultimately leads to profit for the company. The key for local searches is to use Google My Business. The article also states that user experience counts and it matters significantly. Google uses an algorithm that considers many factors relevant to user experience, such as page load time, mobile friendliness, and overall user experience. Having a fast, user friendly site makes your rankings increase. Though there are many other points, the last one I will highlight is the EAT algorithm–Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness. These 3 factors continue to be crucial and vital for company success. Google is emphasizing the importance of having content from credible sources, and this will only continue to be a need and desire.
