How to Write Compelling Content

One of the main ways you can improve your site’s SEO is by writing effective, high-quality content. This will drive more traffic, make you appear more reputable, increase backlinks, and more. But, how do you do it?

Make Your Content Useful and Unique

Your content is not just paragraphs to hide keywords in– it should provide real value, like solving a problem, answering a question, or teaching something new. High quality content not only pleases users but also appears to Google as more authoritative, increasing your page rank. Your content should stand out and provide a fresh perspective, rather than repeat what’s already out there. Additionally, go beyond surface-level information by adding more in depth research and insights.

Engage and Surprise Your Audience

Write with the goal of driving action, whether its the user clicking a button or just learning something new. Identify and fill content gaps that others have missed, so your audience is reading something new. Lastly, use vivid language, storytelling, and visual elements to capture the reader’s attention. All of these strategies will help to engage your user, making them more likely to click that button.

Take Creative Risks and Optimize for Impact

Don’t be afraid to change it up, you don’t want your content going stale. Try new content types, a new structure, or use unexpected hooks and humor to keep readers on their toes. Also, if you don’t already, try using AI tools to generate fresh content ideas. While using AI to write the entire piece of content may not always be the best idea, it can give you great new ideas and perspectives you may have not considered before.

    Hi Caleb!

First off, I liked how you used headings throughout this post to make it easy to get the gist before even reading it – I would say this makes it compelling! Within your content, I liked how you talked about mixing things up and trying new strategies. I think for me it can be scary to try to new things for fear of failure, but realistically, failure is an inevitable part of SEO, content marketing, and life in general that cannot be avoided. By failure, we can actually get to better things faster.

    Hi,
Your post is definitely a great example of the tips presented here. The first point especially is spot-on to what we were just talking about in class – “content is not just a keyword container!” The concept of writing content that’s useful seems like it should be common sense, but I’ve learned that some brands don’t care about the user, only about links and money.
